Simple Inventory Manager is an intuitive inventory management program for Windows.

Modern inventory management is sophisticated and connected. The software businesses use to manage that stock often reflects those complexities. This results in programs that are difficult to use for the average small business owner and the average retail employee. Simple Inventory Manager is an application that has been developed from the start to avoid those usability issues.

Simple Inventory Manager was introduced way back with Windows 98 SE. It has come a long way since then, though, so avoid judging SIM by some of the older images that you may come across. SIM is a freeware up to 40 SKU. A forty item limitation is not practical for most of even the smallest businesses, but it gives you an opportunity to use the program to its fullest and without feature restrictions. If you choose to continue, then you can just pay for a license and continue on from where you were.

It is important to emphasis how simple the program actually is to use. The user interface is well-designed and intuitive. Some people may read that as coded language for basic, but that is not the case at all. Consider that there are some high-profile brands that actually use SIM integrated with other inventory systems in order to provide certain employees a streamlined interface to the systems.

Simple Inventory Manager also offers excellent support. There is a built-in help system as well as an extensive knowledge base online. As a paying customer, you also have access to live support, and this customer support team has an excellent reputation for helping clients overcome challenges.

SIM offers six main tabs: Products, Suppliers, Logs, Inventory, Labels and Tools. Each SKU has six elements by default: ID, Category, Reference, Description, Supplier and Location. In addition to Help, a side menu provides you easy access to Refresh View, Export Data, Reorder Alarms, BarCode, Add Stock, Remove Stock, New, Edit Product and Quit SIM.

This suite also has robust support for barcode printers and scanners and other modern technologies used in retail. There is also an Android version of the program that is included, so you can have your main Windows workstation as well as an Android smartphone, tablet or other device that you take with you on the go. There are some features that are usually associated with inventory management software that are missing, but it provides more than enough for the average business.
